Frequently, various manufacturers are coming up with the latest digital cameras to attract potential customers. But it seems that it's just not working for us digital camera buyers!

After spending a long time at the stores figuring out which is the best digital camera to buy, at last we have enough cash to purchase that jaw-dropping, 7 megapixel, 10x digital zoom, portable, candy-colored, up to 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card and not to forget very handy, everyone we know will be envious about. We rush to the store with with our savings and lot of a pride, when we come across a new display - an 8 megapixel, up to 1G expandable memory, with built-in microphone and stereo surround system, video playback capability, with twenty-two scenic modes type of camera. And we think twice for the reason that the manufacturer of this wonderful camera says that this is the best digital camera to buy yet it is already out in the market. We always crave to have the best, bringing with us our life savings and credit cards, we purchase the "best digital camera." But that problem is, that doesn't last for a long time, after a few months, there's another "best digital camera" that the manufacturer would claim is the best one.

This confuses us buyers. So what really makes a digital camera, the best digital camera?

Apparently, there are a few certain factors to consider when looking to buy the "best digital camera".

MEGAPIXELS. The mega pixel property is one of the most important features in a digital camera to be considered the best digital camera to buy. The higher the mega pixels the better photograph you will produce. A mega pixel is equivalent to one million pixels. The resolution of your photo depends on the mega pixel property of your digital  camera. As you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurred colors.

LCD SIZE. The best digital camera will always have a large LCD to make you easier to frame your image subject without having to use the viewfinder feature. This is also beneficial when you are looking at your images, other digital cameras have touch up enabled and features for image editing with its LCD. A 1.5-inch display is the average size, a 2-inch LCD display works better, but the best LCD size to have in your digital camera would be 2.5 inches or higher.

ZOOM. Digital and optical zoom are two features most digital cameras have. But others only have digital zoom. Having an optical zoom is a lot better. The higher optical zoom the better. Digital cameras are usually equipped with optical zoom of between 3x to 10x. The higher the optical zoom, the higher it gets to the best digital camera category.

MEMORY CARD. Your memory card should be the right one for your digital camera, so you must make sure of it prior to buying. There are several types of memory card like the xD, SD, Flash card and others. And these memory card types go with various types of digital cameras and different brands/manufacturers. Memory storage is of course also a factor to consider in finding the best digital cameras. Select the size of memory that you will need, if you're a photo addict, you might require more than 32MB. Memory cards can go high up to 2G.

The important point to choose the best digital camera is to look for one that will best fit your personality and lifestyle. Don't just purchase the latest out there or the one that you see on the ads saying they are the best digital cameras out there in the market. You wouldn't want to purchase a DSLR and utilize it with your regular daily activities or family hang-outs and gatherings and have to lug it around?! Or you wouldn't want to purchase the latest point and shoot digital camera when you're dead-serious about being a professional photographer. (Surely, you can utilize this for starters, but if you're no longer a neophyte photographer, you don't want to get this type of digital camera.)

In fact, the best digital camera is the one that you will enjoy and have fun using. Not the kind of camera that you'll lug around the house and leave it unused in its case or after a few months of using it, junk it inside your cabinet.
